What is Epson Error Code 0x97?

Epson Error Code 0x97 appears on the screen without warning; your printer will display a message to turn off your device and then turn it back on. The error code 0x97 usually appears in the middle of the printing process and stops it immediately. This error will continue to display until you correct this error and occur in the Epson Printer models, ie. Epson WF-3620, Epson WF-4630, etc. Here are some methods you can apply to solve the problem in Epson Printer.

Methods to Solve the Epson Error Code 0x97

Method 1: Unplug and Plug-in

The steps outlined below require technical knowledge to open and use your printer. If you are not sure, refer to the manual that came with your printer because the steps vary from model to model.

Step 1: Open the printer casing and check for any jammed papers or debris. If you find any, remove it.

Step 2: Remove all printing cartridges

Step 3: Unplug all the USBs and cables

Step 4: Once the printer is disconnected, press the power button as if you were trying to turn on the printer. This will discharge any residual current in the printer

Step 5: Now reconnect all the USBs and power cable

Step 6: Turn on your printer and check for the error

Method 2: Unplug and Plug-in (Alternative)

This method is a variation of method 1. So, if method 1 does not work, try it to confirm whether the error is due to an internal hardware failure or not.

Step 1: Turn off your printer

Step 2: Unplug all cables

Step 3: Wait for 5 minutes

Step 1: Press and hold the power button for 60+ seconds (DO NOT release it)

Step 4: When the 60+ seconds have gone, plug in the power cable while keeping the power button pressed

Step 5: Hold the power button pressed for another 60+ seconds (after plugging in the power cable)

Step 6: Release the power button after 60 seconds of plug in

Step 7: Now check if the error code is still shown on the printer.

Method 3: Clean Mechanic Pad

Step 1: Turn off printer and unplug.

Step 2: Remove printer cover and casing.

Step 3: Wet tissue with warm water. Wipe cleaning pad.

Step 4: Leave wet tissue for a few minutes on the pad.

Step 5: Remove tissue and leave it to dry completely.

Step 6: Plug in and turn on printer. See if error persists.

Method 4: Troubleshooter and install missing drivers

If the above methods don’t work, you can try this method of troubleshooting. To do so follow the below steps:

Step 1: Download the Windows Printer troubleshooter from the internet.

Step 2: Run the executable program and identify which error is caught by it.

Step 3: Install all the removed printer drivers and then right click on the icon of Window menu. Choose the  “Device Manager” option.

Step 4: A new window will display on  the screen, select the option of “Printers.”

Step 5: Find the printer with which you are having the issue. Make a right click on it and then choose

Step 6: Verify if the error persists by printing any document.
