The QuickBooks 404 error occurs randomly on any screen when you work in your QuickBooks. The root cause of the 404 update error in QuickBooks is the failure of QuickBooks to synchronize with Intuit servers. To receive, send or download information for internal service requests from QuickBooks, to recover from Intuit servers. The interruption or failure of internal service requests results in an Intuit 404 error. However, QuickBooks runtime errors are known as "QB 404 update error".   • QuickBooks software is corrupt or incomplete during download and installation.
  • The Windows registry of your system is corrupted as a result of changes such as installing or uninstalling QuickBooks-related software.
  • If your system is infected. Contains viruses or malware that can corrupt Windows system files. Or program files related to QuickBooks.
  • If any other installation, modification or update of the program may result in accidental corruption or deletion of QuickBooks related files.

Methods to Fix QuickBooks Error 404

Method 1: Verify your Internet Speed

  1. Access Internet Explorer and open a frequently opened website.
  2. If you encounter a problem opening the URL, refresh the Internet settings and try again.
  3. If you are still prompted to display the message "Can not display the page" or "Connect to the Internet". Turn off and turn on your wireless router and open the URL again.
  4. If you face the same problem, reboot the system and try again. 5.Set Internet Explorer as the default browser. Finally, contact your ISP if the steps above do not help you.

 Method 2: Change your Internet Settings      

  1. Go to Internet Explorer >> Tools >> Internet Options.
  2. Click the Security tab, go to Trusted sites and select
  3. Add * .intuit.com and * .quickbooks.com as trusted sites.
  4. Select Close and then Ok.
  5. Log out of the company file and close QuickBooks.
  6. Reopen QuickBooks> Open Company File> perform the job where you encountered the QB 404 error.

Method 3: Update and Repair QuickBooks 

  1. Open QuickBooks and access the Help menu.
  2. Click Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  3. Open the company file and start running the jobs that QuickBooks 404 Error interrupted.
  4. If the problem persists, proceed with the QuickBooks Repair as shown below:
  5. Press Windows + R together.
  6. Type "Appwiz.cpl" in the box at the bottom left corner of your screen.
  7. Select QuickBooks from the list of installed programs, and then click Repair.
  8. Once the repair is done, check whether the problem has been solved or not.

Method 4: Reconfigure the System Settings

  1. Open QuickBooks and company files.
  2. Initiate the process you are facing QB Error 404.
  3. Log out of the company file and close QuickBooks.
  4. Update Windows and restart the computer.
  5. Go to Internet Explorer >> Tools menu >> Internet Options.
  6. Select the Advanced tab and browse to the settings pane.
  7. Close all programs and save the information.
  8. Press Windows + R together, type msconfig, and click OK.
  9. Select General in the System Setup screen.
  10. Go to Startup Selection >> Selective Startup >> Ok.
  11. Restart your computer.
